Shannon Caraway
Assessment Specialist
Shannon brings more than 14 years of experience across education and assessment to her work at ACS. She began her career in public education, spending 10 years as an English Language Arts educator before transitioning into professional assessment and credentialing. During her time in education, Shannon designed curriculum, instruction, and assessments for diverse learners. She also used assessment data to guide instruction and supported professional development in assessment literacy, standards alignment, instructional technology, and digital learning. Shannon earned and maintained National Board Certification in English Language Arts for Early Adolescence.
Since transitioning into professional assessment, Shannon has supported certification and licensure programs across a variety of industries. Her experience includes job analysis, blueprint and content specification development, item and exam development, standard setting, psychometric review, technical reporting, and ongoing assessment program support. She particularly enjoys the collaborative side of assessment work and has worked closely with clients, subject matter experts, and psychometric professionals throughout the assessment development process. Drawing on her background as an educator, Shannon focuses on making complex assessment concepts understandable, facilitating productive discussions, and helping stakeholders develop practical solutions that meet the needs of their programs.
Shannon lives in Mississippi with her husband, son, daughter, and three dogs (one of which is a particularly sassy dachshund named Dolly). Outside of work, she enjoys photography, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
