SHORT DESCRIPTION
In this article, Susan Davis-Becker joined colleagues from SeaCrest Consulting to discuss a few of the psychometric challenges programs often experience when working towards their NCCA accreditation. They offer insights into why these areas are particularly challenging and potential solutions to avoid these roadblocks.
ABSTRACT
Achieving accreditation is a major accomplishment for a credentialing program as it denotes the strength of the organizational operations and credentialing system. After working with numerous programs to navigate this process, ACS and SeaCrest have identified the roadblocks that many programs encounter along this journey. In this article, the authors first discuss the general psychometric themes that underly the NCCA psychometric standards and eight common roadblocks that programs often encounter. Each roadblock is discussed along with recommendations for how programs can be successful in meeting the associated standard(s).
